Location policy
What is used
Your approximate position — coordinates rounded to about one kilometre — and the city and country name looked up from it. Nothing more precise leaves your device.
Your three choices
- Remember my location. Your position is kept on this device. Each time you open BEEFFICE it is updated automatically, without asking you again: the device's location service answers silently using the permission you already gave, and if it cannot, a coarse location is worked out from your internet (IP) address. If you travel, the forecast follows you.
- Just this time. Your position is used until you close the app, and you are asked again on your next visit. The IP address is never used in this mode.
- Don't allow. Turn the location permission off in Permissions. The rest of the app works the same.
You can change your mind at any time: Forget my location in the weather panel clears the stored position and the choice, and the next visit asks again.
Where it goes
- Open-Meteo receives the rounded coordinates to return the forecast, air quality and pollen.
- OpenStreetMap Nominatim receives the rounded coordinates to return a place name.
- GeoJS receives your IP address — only in Remember mode, and only when the device cannot report a position.
- BEEFFICE's server passes these requests on and caches forecasts by rounded coordinate for 30 minutes. Your location is not stored against your account.
Accuracy and responsibility
Forecasts, air quality, pollen and the place name come from third-party services and are provided as is. They can be wrong or out of date. A location from an IP address can be off by tens of kilometres, and by far more on a VPN or mobile network.
Do not rely on BEEFFICE for decisions where safety, health or property is at stake. For storms, floods, heat or air-quality alerts, follow your national weather service and local authorities — in Vietnam, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting (nchmf.gov.vn). To the extent the law allows, BEEFFICE is not liable for loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, weather or location information shown in the app.
